Four Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Freight Service

Choosing a freight service starts with the shipment itself. These four questions can help you organize the information needed for a useful comparison.

1. How much freight is moving? Record the number of pallets or other handling units, along with packaged dimensions and weight. A partial load may fit an LTL or volume option; a dedicated trailer may make sense for a larger shipment. Compare actual quotes rather than relying on a fixed pallet cutoff.

2. What equipment does it need? An enclosed trailer, open deck, or temperature-controlled trailer serves different freight. Oversized or unusually heavy cargo may need additional planning. Include the loaded dimensions and any equipment requirements in your request.

3. What are the time constraints? Share the ready date, delivery requirements, and any appointment windows. If the shipment is urgent, say so at the start.

4. What happens at pickup and delivery? A liftgate, limited-access location, port or rail terminal, or special handling instruction can change the service plan. List these needs before comparing prices.

You do not have to decide on a mode alone. Request a Freight Quote with the details you have, and our team can review the available options. For ongoing shipping, request a shipping account.
